C45 (1.0503) is a medium carbon high-quality steel with high strength. Due to poor hardenability, it is generally used in a normalized state. When mechanical properties are required, quenching and tempering treatment is used. Cold deformation plasticity is moderate, and the machinability of annealing and normalizing is better than that of quenching and tempering. Used for manufacturing parts with high strength requirements, such as gears, shafts, piston pins, and machined parts, forgings, stamped parts, bolts, nuts, and pipe joints with low stress.
APPLICATION:
Steel susceptible to the parts averagely exposed on loadings and more resistant to abrasion. For the parts such as: axles, crankshafts, spindles, discs, pump rotors, etc.Quenched and subsequently tempered steel for screws , forgings , wheel tyres , sickles ,axes , knives , wood working drills , hammers , etc.
