Poly (methyl methacrylate) is the scientific name for the synthetic polymer commonly known as acrylic, acrylic glass, and plexiglass. When not modified it is brittle, transparent, and lightweight.PMMA has a melting point of 320°F and has a density range of 1.17-1.20 g/cm3. It experiences no reactions by aqueous solution when compared to other polymers and plastics it has a high scratch resistance.
Application
Common uses of Acrylic (PMMA) include: automotive lights, home appliances, lenses for glasses, shatter-resistant panels for windows, skylights, bulletproof security barriers, signs and displays, LCD screens, bathtubs, furniture, and acrylic nails, and many other applications.
