C15 has a good balance between toughness, strength and ductility and is the most commonly used steel in the world. Although its mechanical properties are not very unique, it can still be easily formed, machined, welded and manufactured. C15 has excellent weldability and uniform hard surface layer, which is considered as the best steel for cementite. Hardening may be carried out by carburizing and other case hardening methods. Carburizing can achieve typical surface hardness HRC 58.
Application
C15 is used in bending, crimping and swaging processes, and it is suitably used in applications that do not need high strength of alloy steels and high carbon.C15 is used to improve drilling, machining, threading and punching processes, and also can be used to prevent cracking in severe bends.
TYPICAL APPLICATIONS:
- Shafts
- Spindles
